[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Jpaulm 15:13, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?

Talk:Etruscan language

Note there is no activity here. There was a very short dispute between Alexander 007 and Jpalm in december at Etruscan language. (Not taking just commenting) jbolden1517Talk 00:51, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Who's involved?

Me and Alexander 007

What's going on?

Uninformative comment by Alexander 007 (to say the least)

What would you like to change about that?

I would like to trigger more discussion by experts

If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?

Your choice - my email address is paul.morrison@rogers.com

Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?
This is, following the Categorical Imperative, the idea that you might want to do
what you expect others to do. You don't have to, of course, that's why it's a question.

Not at this time

[edit] Evidence

Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
Wikipedia:Etiquette: Although it's understandably difficult in a heated argument, if the other party is not as civil as you'd like them to be, make sure to be more civil than him or her, not less.

[edit] Compromise offers

This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.

[edit] Comments by others

While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.

[edit] Discussion

Item 7 in Talk:Etruscan - I answered "Alexander 007" pretty calmly, I thought, asking for more info. I suspect he should either give more argument, or remove his answer, which seems to me to violate NPOV. Alternatively, if Talk is not subject to this rule, how do I trigger a more intelligent discussion :-)

Thanks

History for Talk:Etruscan language
Talk pages are for discussion of articles. WP:NPOV applies primarily to articles... while discussing the articles, it's requested that you remain civil but not neutral:
From WP:NPOV:
NPOV (Neutral Point Of View) is a fundamental Wikipedia principle which states that all articles must be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly and without bias. This includes maps, reader-facing templates, categories and portals. According to Wikipedia founder Jimbo Wales, NPOV is "absolute and non-negotiable."
If you're looking to trigger more discussion with Alexander 007, I'd probably suggest starting by leaving a short, polite request at User talk:Alexander 007. If he turns you down on this point, it's probably best to let it go.
Hope that helps. :) ~Kylu (u|t) 20:13, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I don't expect much from him really - how does one get a 3rd-party expert involved in the discussion? Jpaulm 17:35, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Mediation Cabal is unable to provide experts. To reach the broader Wikipedia community, you can try the Village Pump. Ideogram 15:30, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
