[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Guizzy 15:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- The Bullshido.net article, about a web community.
- Who's involved?
- Members of the said community and author of the article Scb steve and the administrator of the community Phrost, me (someone that has been on the recieving end of the so-called "heated discussions" of said website) and Triune (no idea what is his involvment).
- What's going on?
- As of now, we are disagreeing if there is a NPOV problem with the article, as it is written by members of its subject, and because I and Triune feel criticism seem to be barely adressed by a few weak sentences and an external link, while scp steve and Phrost consider the article does not need any editing. Every attempt at editing the article is reverted by them.
- What would you like to change about that?
- Ideally, I would want the article to be modified in such a way that it does no longer read like an advertisment. If that cannot be achieved, I feel it should at least be balanced by a Criticism section.
- Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?
-
- This is, following the Categorical Imperative, the idea that you might want to do
- what you expect others to do. You don't have to, of course, that's why it's a question.
- Not that I don't want to contribute, but I don't exactly have the time.
[edit] Mediator response
I am willing to mediate this discussion. NPOV is important and it should be discussed in full. I have some knowledge of martial arts (through a friend) however it is very limited, I also have never visited Bullshido.net so I think that counts as impartial!!
I have read the Talk page and see that everyone has voiced their opinions there however it is getting a little confused. I suggest that first Guizzy highlights specific areas of the article he feels are NPOV and that may need changing and provide reasons for the changes. (Triune also feel free to add any you feel he has missed).
After that Phrost and SpcSteve will be given a chance to reply and give reasons why these things should not be changed.
Phrost and other members who wish to reply in support of NOT changing the article please wait to allow Guizzy to post and then for myself to reply. This is simply to try and keep the flow of the discussion.
Please remeber to try and abide by the following when putting forward your opinion; be polite, provide backup examples / evidence and keep the post order (for - against - for - against) to avoid confusion.
I think the article should also remain unedited by either parties until the mediation process has reached it's conclusion.
I have added a comment to the talk page as well just in case anyone misses this.
If you want toget in touch directly with me about this mediation then please visit my talk page. If you want to keep things private (probably not a good idea) than email me. If you do not wish me to mediate this discussion please let me know and I will pass it on.

- I have no problem at all with you being the mediator for this issue. And certainly, I will continue to make substantial contributions and discussion to this and other Wikipedia articles. My postings so far with relevant proof is evidence enough of that. Thanks for helping out. :) --Scb steve 21:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Evidence
Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
Wikipedia:Etiquette: Although it's understandably difficult in a heated argument, if the other party is not as civil as you'd like them to be, make sure to be more civil than him or her, not less.
[edit] Compromise offers
This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.
[edit] Comments by others
Guizzy has not lodged any substantial criticisms of the article that have not been already addressed or are better addressed elsewhere. For example, Guizzy wishes to alter the section concerning Bullshido.net's involvement in investigating Ashida Kim, when the appropriate place to include participation from other sites would be the Kim article itself, rather than the Bullshido.net artile. It would be ridiculous to discuss the efforts of other sites in an article about an individual one.
Further, some of Guizzy's material he/she wishes to include have no basis for inclusion based on how other Internet forum articles are crafted. I have included voluminous evidence to substantiate my point on this. --Scb steve 21:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
