[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Mark 2000 19:18, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- Chuck Berry in the "Career Scandals" section.
- Who's involved?
- What's going on?
- It is a very well known urban legend that the is video footage of Chuck Berry doing something to a woman - whether is defication, urination, or underage sex depends on who is telling the story. It is a *fact* that a Miami video house is commercially distributing the video that caused the rumor which consists of a faceless person who sounds like berry urinating on a woman of unknown age while saying obscenities. Because the tape has no face its unknown if it actually is berry, but the tape claims it is.
- Dr. Gonzo whats to remove this line of information altogether without discussion:
-
- Video footage currently distributed commercially by Video Search of Miami, FL purports to show Berry urinating on a young woman in a bath tub. While the voice sounds similar to Berry's, because the face is never seen there is no way of cofirming it actually is Berry.[2]
- The item is sourced reliably from the Village Voice. Gonzo feels that Wiki is no place for the spreading of celebrity rumors. My feeling is that, since the tape is part of the national consciousness and people will be searching for what is on it and if it is really him, that information should be available in some way here. Since the tape is ambiguous and of a much tamer nature than most of the actual rumors it serves to help Mr. Berry rather than further hurt him.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I would like to have confirmation that this is proper info for Wiki and that if Gonzo has a problem we should work to rephrase it rather than delete it outright, as gonzo is constantly reverting the article without discussion.
- If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
- Public discourse is ok with me.
- Would you be willing to be a mediator yourself, and accept a mediation assignment in a different case?
-
- This is, following the Categorical Imperative, the idea that you might want to do
- what you expect others to do. You don't have to, of course, that's why it's a question.
- Sure, why not?
[edit] Mediator response
- Aloha. I'm looking forward to mediating this case, however it looks like Dr.Gonzo (talk · contribs) might be on wikibreak. —Viriditas | Talk 05:06, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Dr.Gonzo has responded and has directed me to his comments on Talk:Chuck Berry. [1]. —Viriditas | Talk 02:04, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- While Mark 2000 questions whether mediation is still necessary due to Dr.Gonzo's lack of participation, Mark has made it clear that he is open to mediation. —Viriditas | Talk 07:21, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Requesting update This case has not seen activity since May. Is it still active? If not, I will close it due to inactivity. Cowman109Talk 17:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- The case is inactive. The notice on Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Closed Cases 3 says that no cases will be closed. Perhaps you could change that notice as well? —Viriditas | Talk 06:20, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, that means cases are not being archived temporarily - not that they aren't being closed. Normally there was a process of taking the case link and moving it to the archives, but temporarily we just put it in the closed cases section and leave it to the future (should the bot eventually archive cases). [edit] Evidence
Please report evidence in this section with {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence}} for misconduct and {{Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Evidence3RR}} for 3RR violations. If you need help ask a mediator or an advocate. Evidence is of limited use in mediation as the mediator has no authority. Providing some evidence may, however, be useful in making both sides act more civil.
Wikipedia:Etiquette: Although it's understandably difficult in a heated argument, if the other party is not as civil as you'd like them to be, make sure to be more civil than him or her, not less.
[edit] Compromise offers
This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.
