Where is the issue taking place?

Democratic peace theory

Who's involved?
Myself
User:Ultramarine
What's going on?
The newest round in a long dispute; but I come to you as the alternative to WP:ANI, which is my next recourse.
The dispute involving this article, and another, went to ArbCom and resulted in the decision was that Ultramarine and I (and another editor) should edit cooperatively; which is pretty much what I wanted.
I hurt my hand in early November, and withdrew from WP for a while. When I returned to Democratic peace theory, Jan 3, I avoided my last edit, and have achieved a substantially different version. My intention this time was to avoid all edit wars, simplify the verbose prose, and avoid jargon.
Ultramarine's sole edits since then have been four edit tags, which he has largely refused to justify in Talk, referring instead to his complaints against my previous edit, which is [ http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Democratic_peace_theory&diff=36409204&oldid=27641204 substantially different. On other articles, I would remove some of them on the grounds they are not justified in Talk; but I am inhibited on this one. Septentrionalis
What would you like to change about that?
Doubtless I am emotionally involved with the article. I will spend today adjusting the article to meet Ultramarine's complaints (as far as I understand them).

I would like:

  • a mediator on the article as a whole.
  • a third party review of the tags, to see to what extent they

are justified. Septentrionalis

If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
My e-mail is registered with Wikipedia; but my Talk page will usually be faster. I see no present need for confidentiality. Septentrionalis 18:55, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comments by others

From Kim Bruning's talk page:

"I have not made any uncivil remarks. However, I have been called a stalker. Please state exactly what you object to. Ultramarine 09:50, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Next to typing in ALL CAPS before, which is considered impolite, you have also not assumed good faith thus getting into an unnescesary childish match with two other people. I take it those were merely brief oversights made in the heat of the moment. Kim Bruning 09:56, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

They inserted this picture and you accuse only me? Ultramarine 09:58, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
I was accused of being a stalker and you replied "Hehehe, I think ultramarine was watching this page already, so unfortunately, no stalker"? I also see discussions between you and Pmanderson on this page and his, and also direct intervention on his request without informing me or giving me a chance to reply. Unfortunately, I can longer consider you an appropriate mediator.Ultramarine 10:06, 12 February 2006 (UTC)" Ultramarine 10:39, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

This was taken out of context. I was having a conversation with Kim Bruning and he interjected which he is intitled to do. I made a joke about his prompt and inappropriate response with the fact that I was being stalked. There was no malice in what I said, nor did Kim interpret it that way.

In my opinion, this is just another example of Ultramarine bullying the community and trying to censor opposing viewpoints. --Scaife 22:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mediator response

Gingerly taken up. See talk page for followup. Sdedeo (tips) 21:07, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

OK, I am punting the case to Kim. Sdedeo (tips) 23:04, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Appears Kim is in the article now, let me know if any help is needed. --Wgfinley 02:52, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Got no help, Sdedeo just cut and ran :-(
Hmm, due to misbehaviour and picking fights by Ultramarine, mediation was dropped. Kim Bruning 10:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I will have to address each of the points made above.
  • After some particularly obnoxious behaviour by ultramarine, he got caught up in a fight with not one, but 2 wikipedians, unrelated to the case. In exasperation, one of them finally posted this image, when nothing else worked. I removed the image. Ultramarine has personally chosen to prominently display it in public again.
  • Someone who thought they'd finally been "honored with a stalker", this is indeed considered a Good Thing in some quarters. I defended Ultramarine good-naturedly, as such situations require.
  • PMAnderson had discussions with me on a public page, and Ultramarine was free to watch my page and view those discussions at all times. I have kept no secrets in this particular case
