[edit] Request for cabal mediation

[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Septentrionalis 21:27, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
Chimera
Chimaera (geography)
Who's involved?
DreamGuy and myself.
What's going on?
DreamGuy chose (some time ago) to remove several items from this page. I requested that he justify these removals. (None of them were my insertion, but I believe removals should be supported on request) He has replied at some length, and abusively, but insofar as I can make sense of his reasoning, they have been a mix of inaccuracies, irrelevancies, and "because I never heard of it, it can't be notable." Other efforts at mediation have supplied justification for some items, and they are gone.
He has persisted in abusive language, and now has reverted 4 times in 24h36m, which is cutting it fine, at least. He claims to be defending a consensus decision, but I see no evidence for other members of this consensus than himself.
Three cross-references remain at issue:
  1. for the locations called Chimaera in antiquity, see Chimaera (geography).
    • This derives from a paragraph defended, on Talk:Chimera by TobyJ and an anon, concerning a place in Lycia. I was doubtful when I first saw it, but have come up with enough evidence on the subject for a small article. No one but DreamGuy has ever opposed its mention.
  2. The Chimera is an APC of the Imperial Guard in the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000. (see Weapons, Equipment and Vehicles of the Imperium (Warhammer 40,000))
  3. Chimaeras is a cycle of oil paintings by Lena Hades.
    • These have been questioned by third parties. The Warhammer articles have been rearranged, so the link has needed to be changed; but the Chimera APC appears to be an important part of the universe. Chimaeras is not specifically mentioned on Lena Hades, but then only one of her works is, and that quite briefly. I have inquired on the talk page.
What would you like to change about that?

On manner:

  • DreamGuy should cease blanket reversions.
  • DreamGuy should stop using abusive and hysterical language. (He is even more abusive on Talk:Níðhöggr and related posts - for example: this one; btw, on that issue, I agree with the position he is ranting in favor of.)
  • Edit summaries of the form "rv to correct version" are inflammatory.
  • Those who claim consensus should document it on request.

On matter:

  • Item #1 above should stay in the article.
  • Item #2 and #3 should stay; or the case for their removal made clearly, accurately, and succinctly, so that other editors can change their minds about it. After all, someone went to the trouble to put them in.
  • DreamGuy should stop converting Chimaera (geography), which contains the evidence he claims to desire, into a redirect.
If you'd prefer we work discreetly, how can we reach you?
My WP e-mail link works fine, although my talk page may well be faster. I do not request discretion.

[edit] Comments by others

  1. If Chimaera (geography) can be referenced then I would agree with a link to it
  2. "Chimera" is featured in the TOC of Weapons, Equipment and Vehicles of the Imperium (Warhammer 40,000) and would therefore seem notable enough to be included
  3. The paintings are not mentioned at the Lena Hades and I believe that people would not search for "Chimera" when looking for her work (they would go directly to her article) - I therefore don't think this warrants inclusion
