From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Medical intuition employs direct clairvoyant insight and vision into a client’s body and psyche, combined with inductive and deductive reasoning, for the purpose of assisting clients to connect the dots between their issues and their illnesses [footnote 1].

Some M.I.s only view into the physical body and some both view and treat. The combination of an extremely yin skill like clairvoyance, with an extremely yang skill, inductive and deductive reasoning (finding the right questions to ask), gives M.I.s who treat much of their therapeutic potency. Many M.D.s believe the future of health care includes much more collaboration with medical intuitives who can clarify medical issues and head off unnecessary medical interventions.

Theory of medical intuition treatment

Some M.I.s believe up to 90% of physical health disturbances track back to the categories of issues mentioned in Genesis: issues with yourself (inner child), other people, the world and God (including past lives) [footnote 1]. Because these issues can be known and understood, they can be cleared. Self-forgiveness is a primary tool here. When the stress, disturbance and “psychic inflammation” [footnote 1] of “issues in the tissues” [footnote 3] is relieved, the physical body “bounces back” with peace if not with joy and vitality. Remaining issues requiring medical interventions are then more obvious and their optimal protocol for treatment more clear.

Practicing medical intuitive vary in their clairvoyant ability. Some are literally “human MRI machines” [footnote 2] some can even go into the nature and structure of the DNA [footnote 3] Many more have lesser gifts while remaining focused on assisting clients to understand the “issues in their tissues” [footnote 3].

Carolyn Myss [clickable link] is acknowledged as the coiner of this term in the 1980s. She and Norm Shealy, M.D. did the heavy lifting giving medical intuition credibility in the medical community as a valid phenomena and treatment adjunct thru years of double blind studies. Their Institute for the Science of Medical Intuition is well-grounded in the scientific method. All graduates must pass examinations verifying their ability. Despite carping from dedicated skeptics against the possibility of medical intuition (see James Randi), medical intuition has stood the test of time and remains a valid, verifiable phenomena.

Comparison with “health intuitive”

Karen Grace Kassey, a student of Myss's and another brilliant talent in the field, has copyrighted the term "health intuitive," an unfortunate development because this term covers virtually the same set of talents, permitting a somewhat lower bar of clairvoyant vision into the body and at the same time, stronger connotations of addressing whatever life issues clients bring to sessions. “Health intuitive” has wide utility similar to the term “medical intuitive.”

Comparison with psychics

Medical intuition overlaps with the older field of psychics (see parapsychology, psychic, psychical research). Some psychics call themselves, and function as, medical intutives. The two fields differ in that medical intuitives employ empathy down into the emotions, cells and even into the DNA, whereas the older generation of psychics tend to deal with issues in more symbolic, intangible and abstract terms i.e. tarot. The penetration of medical intutives into very specific detail on practical, physical issues augments the credibility and integrity of medical intuition as compared to the more general field of psychics.

Comparison with energy medicine (see energy medicine)

The term energy medicine has very broad definition covering many therapeutic modalities. Some medical intutives practice energy medicine modalities, some do not. The two fields overlap considerably as both employ intuition and empathy into the processes of the body to a high degree. The two fields differ in that most practitioners of energy medicine do not claim to be clairvoyant tho they may be!

Comparison with mystics

Some medical intuitives are also mystics (see mysticism). The topic of mysticism is not commonly connected with the term “medical intuitive” because of the nebulous connotations of the first and the scientific connotations of the second. Still many of the most powerful and influential mystics in the world today tend to be medical intuitives i.e. Carolyn Myss and Maryann Castellanos. Medical intuitives are much more likely to discuss aspects of quantum physics theory than the Book of Revelation. Medical intuition as a field bridges the gap between lay persons and mystics thru by introducing various tools and techniques designed to put people in touch with themselves at deeper levels, i.e. “talking to your own cells” (Maryann Castellanos).

Safety issues

Ethical practitioners of medical intuition are no danger to clients as long as their insights are regarded as useful second opinions, not to replace the advice of a doctor, especially for clients with acute conditions.

Safety for practitioners may be a more pertinent issue. The turnover and burnout rate for psychics and medical intutives seems high. The main issues seem to be the field attracts persons with high empathy who once successful, fail to take care of themselves adequately. Practitioners require high self-care and adequate and sufficient psychic and spiritual protection.

Training opportunities

Various training exists, each with a unique focus. While Myss and Shealy’s training program was undeniably the first in modern times, the program with eh greatest number of participants may be Peace Theological Seminary’s Masters and Doctorate program in Spiritual Science [footnote 4]. Its stated aim is to “study, integrate and experience the teachings of soul transcendence.” While not claiming to produce medical intuitives, this is an excellent description of the outcome, with the caveat that graduates primarily learn to heal themselves, not work on other people, tho they may work on other people. A great strength of the PTS program is its focus on adequate and sufficient psychic and spiritual protection. This program is completely safe for sensitive persons.
