[edit] Subheadings
Karly, i think you should not put the Next Media under the main title. or you have other puposes. please explain to me. vicky 25 oct
- I've changed it a bit. I've also removed "in Hong Kong" after every subheading. The entire article is about HK, so it seems a bit redundant. --Menchi 10:23, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)
[edit] Translation
What is east touch and east week in Chinese? vicky 25 oct
- East Week = 《東週刊》; East Touch seems to be 《東Touch》. (I didn't make up the half-translated title!) --Menchi 10:58, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)
[edit] Cable TV
Cable TV is different from i-cable. i-cable is a corporation which specializes in cable TV. By the way, Menchi, could you teach me how to type Chinese in Wikipedia? Thanks Vicky 25 oct
- Sure, see Wikipedia talk:Wikipedians/China#Converting CJK text to HTML Unicode. --Menchi 21:27, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Taipei Times article
Removed the external link section with only the following link:
Reasons:
- The linked article focuses on an allegation of China interference / self-censorship in an English newspaper, SCMP, rather than development of English media in HK.
- The linked article is made up of speculations that its author (a political commentator who is a hard-line China critic) did not hide. It suggests affirmatively of Chinese interference in the title, yet states that "even if Jiang [Zemin] did not order Lam's dismissal ... [SCMP did this to appease Jiang]". (Actually Lam resigned after internal rearrangement.) It is also too biased and focusd on a particular instance (which was not touched on in the main article), making it perhaps not the best choice as a reference article on the topic.
- In any case Newspapers in Hong Kong may be a better place.

[edit] Suggestions for Additional Material
ICAC Raid of press offices There was an incident a year (Oct 2004?) ago when the press published the name of a protected witness or something. As a result, the Judiciary requested the ICAC to investigate, suspected corruption within the court-system. The ICAC then raided seven press offices and took away documents. This led to a public uproar, and there were constitutional issues as to whether to judiciary can "request" or initiate investigation in their own accord, and also a fear that Freedom of the Press was infringed. Perhaps this incident would be a worthy addition to the current article?
[edit] Abuse of freedom of press
Would anybody be able to write about TVB and ATV's unhealthy competition in 1997, when their infotainment programmes spent all their effort reporting about the Tang family fighting over how to split their father 新馬師曾's inheritance? -- Tonync (talk) (講) 10:54, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
