Medyn

Medyn (Russian: Медынь) is a town in Kaluga Oblast, Russia, located on the Medyn River, some 55 km northwest of Kaluga. Population: 7,700 (2007 est.); 7,940 (2002 Census); 8,400 (1989 Census).
The former airbase Medyn-Aduyevo was situated 9 km northeast of Medyn.

Medyn was first mentioned in 1386, when it passed from the principality of Smolensk to Muscovy. The village of Medynskoye was granted town status in 1776.
