Medieval clothing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Medieval Clothing was a lot different to clothing these days, even though quality clothes were still preferred, only rich people wore good clothes.
Kings: The clothing for kings changed a lot during the Middle-ages but basically kings wore amour (chain mail) and robes, a kings amour was always the strongest and most beautiful. While they were not fighting they would wear robes and cloaks, made of silk or wool
Knights: Knight wore armor, of course, but there was more to it that that. When chain mail became worn by nearly everyone in battle it was difficult to determine your allies from your opposition so they created coat of arms, which decorated their sheilds. Squires: Serfs: Men wore stockings and tunics, while women wore long gowns with sleeveless tunics and covered their hair. Sheepskin cloaks and wool hats and mittens were worn in winter and leather boots were covered with wooden patens to keep your feet dry. Your outer clothes were nearly never washed but your underwear was washed quite frequently. The smell of wood smoke that permeated the clothing seemed to act as a deodorant. Peasant women spun wool into the threads that were woven into the cloth for these garments.
