The local daily newspaper in Louisville is The Courier-Journal, a property of the Gannett chain. Local weekly newspapers include Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO) and Gannett's Velocity (owned by The Courier-Journal). Louisville Magazine, published monthly, highlights the city's culture and lifestyles. Food & Dining Louisville Edition is a high-quality slick magazine covering regional food and drink.

A weekly African-American paper, the Louisville Defender, has been published since 1933.
