This case has been waiting for the assignment of a mediator for a month now. It is festering, with many articles hanging in the balance. The various talk pages show the need for some alacrity. This whole situation has been rightly characterized by outsiders as not being Wikipedia's finest hour. With this extraordinary delay, Wiki's dispute resolution process is being placed in further question. I know MedCom is short-handed and that assignment is voluntary, but if that's the reason for the delay, can't somebody emeritus come out of retirement long enough to help resolve this matter and salvage something of Wiki's reputation?
