Mecheda (Bengali:) is a town in the West Bengal, India. The town is the gate way of Purba Medinipur Dist. upon S.E.Rly. and in proximity to Haldia, Tamluk, Digha and Midnapore.
During the winter, weather is relatively warmer than other place in Purba Medinipur.

People from all over India are employed in the town due to the Thermal Power plant. Many schools exist, such as: 1. K.T.P.P. High school.() 2. Gopalganj High School. 3. Ramchandrapur High School. 4. Santipur Sishu sikshayatan. 5. Hakola High School
One Engineering college exist named " College of Engg. & Mgmt.,Kolaghat" is near to Mecheda.
