Talk:Meat the Veals

[edit] episode title

Current version of the article states that the epsisode title is a reference to the film Meet the Parents. What is the source for that, if any? The plot of the episode actually has little relation to the plot of the film Meet the Parents. It’s more likely that the episode title is a play on Meet the Beatles! since "Veals" sounds like "Beatles". --Mathew5000 11:15, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

I can't for the life of me remember where I got the reference from. All I can think of is that Michael does meet the parents of Anne. Evil Monkey - Hello 00:00, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
The film Meet the Parents was about a guy meeting his fiancée's parents -- not his son's fiancée's parents. In Arrested Development, George Michael had already met Ann's parents. An episode about Michael meeting his son's girlfriend's parents just is not parallel to what happens in the film Meet the Parents. Aside from that, if they wanted an episode title that referred to the film Meet the Parents, they could just have called the episode "Meet the Parents". Linguistically there is nothing similar about the words "Veals" and "Parents", but there is a similarity between "Veals" and "Beatles", so I think it's pretty clear the title is a reference to the Beatles album. --Mathew5000 03:55, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Found the reference - TV.com. Evil Monkey - Hello 06:30, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't think tv.com qualifies as a reliable source. There is no indication for example that this information originated with the producers of the show. It is probably just a faulty assumption someone made and submitted to tv.com. Hence I will delete it from the Wikipedia article. --Mathew5000 19:23, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
