Added a Department of Defense definition of MASINT which I found in a 1997 report on MASINT. This report was on the Federation of American Scientists website, retrieved in April, 2002. NelsonLB 03:59, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Casualty estimation

MASINT alone cannot give a reasonable estimate of casualties. What Electro-optical MASINT#Spectroscopic MASINT can do is help find mass graves. Geophysical MASINT can help localize metal and possibly bodies at that site. TECHINT is needed if there are weapons or artifacts to analyze. IMINT has a role to play in tracking movements. These all have to combine with all-source analysis.

Hi Howard,

I put it in MASINT at a guess but please relocate it where it fits best.

It is an area which must have received a lot of thought by now, and it fits both in natural disaster/emergency management category and military intelligence category.

Please modify the Intelligence Cycle Management template to put it in the right subhead if it is not in MASINT.
