Meatwad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A rounded piece of ground beef, Meatwad is arguably the youngest member of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, though his true age is thrown into question at times. One thing is certain: Meatwad definitely is the most immature of the three. With the mind of a child, he is easily manipulated into anything by anyone (primarily Shake), with the exception of Frylock's attempts to give him moral fiber. Meatwad has the ability to mold himself like clay into different shapes, most notably a hot dog and an igloo, though he has taken on other forms like Samurai Lincoln. He has a liking for playing with dolls, but since the Aqua Teens live on a tight budget he improvises by making his own out of the materials around him. He lives in the Aqua Teens' house, occupying one of its two bedrooms.

[edit] Basic Information

Meatwad is a very gullible character whose child-like innocence is often the target of ridicule and bullying by Master Shake and The Mooninites. Meatwad's only protection from this is Frylock who often treats him as a son and tries to give him moral fiber. Meatwad is arguably the youngest of the Aqua Teens, though his true age is thrown into question at times. Since all of the Aqua Teens' seemed to have been created at the same time, they may all be the same age.

Meatwad has the ability to mold himself like clay into different shapes, most notably a hot dog and an igloo, but he has morphed into other shapes like Wayne Gretzky (which bears a striking resemblance to Samurai Lincoln, such as the one in "Dickesode"). He has a liking for playing with dolls, but since the Aqua Teens live on a tight budget, he improvises by making dolls with the materials around him. Notable dolls he has is Dewey (a cardboard tube), Vanessa (an apple), and Boxy Brown (a box). He lives in the Aqua Teens house, occupying one of its bedrooms, usually sleeping on a grill or a bed of hot coals. Meatwad is also used for pulling Frylock and Shake in the "Danger Cart", a wooden cart for transportation because they are unable to afford a car.

Meatwad has also stated that he cannot defecate, urinate, or vomit. He compares this to the Thunderdome, except "Two men enter; no man leaves."

Meatwad can fully regenerate his body even from very high levels of damage and extreme conditions. In one episode Master Shake traps Meatwad in a freezer when he is released he is completely frozen and is broken into pieces yet he still pull all his pieces back together within a second. Meatwad cannot easily be killed as bullets simply go thorugh his body and punching and kicing has little effect on him.

[edit] Character History

  • Meatwad, along with the other Aqua Teens, originally made his debut in the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode "Baffler Meal". He was very similar as he is today; he still looked similar, sounded the same, but was gloomy and depressed. He was also voiced by Dave Willis then.

[edit] Dolls

Meatwad is occasionally shown playing with dolls and other toys made out of household items, which he considers his "friends". He is fiercely loyal to these and all other imaginary friends.

  • Vanessa is an apple, sometimes shown with a mustache. According to Meatwad, she is an investment banker married to Dewey.
  • Dewey is a spent paper towel tube. According to Meatwad, he is an engineer on the Supertrain that is supposed to run straight through Jupiter, although the description constantly changes. It should also be noted that Shake had used it as a telescope before Meatwad turned it into a doll.
  • Boxy Brown is a cardboard box sprouting an afro. He may be more than imaginary in that unlike Dewey and Vanessa, he speaks to Meatwad and sometimes seems to know things that Meatwad doesn't. He is a send-up of blaxploitation heroes, most notably John Shaft. His name is a play on Foxy Brown. Whenever Boxy speaks, a funky 1970s beat plays in the background. He has been called "Duke of New York, A #1", a reference to Escape from New York. Meatwad is often intimidated by Boxy, whom he thinks threatens him with a knife. While Boxy seems to speak, only Meatwad can hear what he says.
  • Squirrely is a dead squirrel having undergone rigor mortis. Meatwad smokes him with his static electricity power in "Balloonenstein". Squirrely is also seen at the beginning of the episode "The Dressing", where it appears as though Squirrely is kept inside of Meatwad's body.
  • Jeffy is a coiled up garden hose. He only appears in the episode "Boost Mobile". Shake claims to telepathically kill him. Meatwad seems to be aware to the fact that Jeffy is only a garden hose.
  • Happy Time Harry was one of Meatwad's dolls for one episode (Dumber Dolls). He is a balding man with poor posture dressed in boxers, and red high heels, and has a switchblade where his hand should be. Happy Time Harry is a suicidal, drug-addicted nihilist (but cheaply-priced) who eventually drags Meatwad down into depression until the very end of the episode. Harry even frightens Shake into submission, and is more than willing to call Frylock out when Frylock threatens to shoot him. Happy Time Harry is voiced by comedian David Cross in all his appearances.
  • Jiggle Billy (voiced by Dave Willis) is an action doll appearing in the episode Dumber Dolls. Selling points for Jiggle Billy are his expensive night vision goggles (for night jigglin'), authentic working musket, and bottle of moon shine, running his price up to $149.95. He is a happy-go-lucky fella until his spirit is broken by Happy Time Harry.

Unlike Boxy, whom only Meatwad (and the audience) can hear, Happy Time Harry and Jiggle Billy can both speak for themselves and be heard by everyone. Both are capable of independent motion of their arms and heads; in Harry's case, he is fully capable of walking on his own, as he is not secured to a platform, though due to ill health caused by his drug and alcohol addictions, he frequently vomits and passes out, resulting in his becoming non-ambulatory.

[edit] Shapes

  • Meatwad's most commonly seen shapes are the hot dog and the igloo, though he has also been seen as a star, a hammer, a bridge, a parking garage, a gigantic monstrous creature with missile launchers, a fist — which extends its middle finger, "Samurai Lincoln" (or Wayne Gretzky, depending on the observers point of view), a large office building, a "meat monster", and a potted flower (while under the influence of prescription medication). He may have turned in to an arachnid-like creature in the episode "Hypno-Germ", though this could also have simply been the "hypno-germs" altering Frylock's perception of reality. Meatwad can also use sections of his body to form arms, and has been shown with up to four simultaneously.
