Meade Ministries

Meade Ministries is a non-denominational Charismatic ministry located in Lake City, Florida.[1] http://www.meadeministries.com/[2] The ministry is known for its secrecy and non-mainstream beliefs, such as the shunning of professional medical care and the homeschooling of all followers's children.
Meade Industries was created by Charles Meade in the mid-1970's, in which he began spreading his beliefs to friends, family, and neighbors throughout Indiana, South Dakota, Montana, and Illinois. They know have a permanent worship center located in Lake City, FL, which was built in the mid 1990's with seating for over 2000, the 44,000 square foot structure is considered to be an engineering marvel.

[edit] Widely Speculated Beliefs
Much of what is known about Charles Meade and Meade Ministries is speculation. Former members have claimed the following:
- Children marry at very young ages, ranging from 15-18.
- The neighborhood the Meade Minisrty followers live in, which has high brick walls to prevent entry and viewing, may have very few television channels, purposely, to prevent "corruption" of children. Religious stations may be the only ones accepted.
- It has been rumored that Meade Ministry followers ban the reading of fantastical books, ranging from Harry Potter to Dr. Seuss's books.
