[edit] History
Mead Middle School has had a long history. The school was originally built as the first Mead High School. Once the new Mead High School was built, the school became Mead Junior High School, housing grades 7-9. After Mt. Spokane High School was constructed, the building served grades 7-8 and was subsequently renamed Mead Middle School, that name still living on to this date. The original part of the building is over 90 years old, and as a result, will be replaced in fall 2008 with a new building, Mountainside Middle School. The current mascot of Mead Middle School is the Mountain Lions.
