MeadWestvaco Foundation

MeadWestvaco Foundation is a foundation, started by MeadWestvaco. Their goal is to make a real difference for people and communities. Through their work with community organizations they try to help people break through barriers to self-sufficiency, achieve academic success and broaden their horizons through arts and cultural experiences.

The foundation works closely with MeadWestvaco's local managers to develop specific goals, priorities and strategies for involvement. Local managers are also involved in grantmaking decisions.
Their employee volunteer service recognition grants and matches gift programs, through which they encourage MeadWestvaco employees to make a positive difference.

In 2004 There was a total of $4.9 million spent on contributions:

- The contributions consisted of Direct Grants to United Way campaigns $4.2 Million.
- Matching Gifts $300,000 For Schools by employees used for matching funds.
- Grants for Volunteers $400,000 for 1200 employees or spouses that volunteered for charity.
