[edit] Fair use rationale

The image is used in the following Wikipedia articles:

Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use in Wikipedia is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It is a historically image specifically created to promote and publicize the Malaysia MEASAT-1 communications satellite.
  2. There is no equivalent free replacement alternative of the image. The image is shows it orbiting over Malaysia - it is no real use outside of the context of Malaysia/Boeing satellites Wikipedia articles.
  3. It is of much lower resolution (JPG lossy) than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality. It is unsuitable for use in printing (RGB).
  4. The image is only being used for informational purposes.
  5. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject(s) of the articles and the influence the subject matter has in Malaysian science and technology.
