Md. Hashem ,a renowned lyric composer tune composer and singer ,was born in 10th January 1947 at Sreekrishnapur village in Noakhali. He is the eldest son of Md. Delwar Hossain and Jayeda Khatun.

Throughout his life he dedicates all of his endeavor for music. He is the first who worked and researched on regional language of Noakhali and composed songs in this language . The life and nature of the souther coastal region of Bangladesh, especially Noakhali is reflected in his songs .He is known as the Monarch of 'Noakhalir Ancholic Gan'.

He achieved the Diploma in Music from Dhaka Music College in 1968 and MA in Bengali literature from University of Dhaka in 1969.

Hashem started his career as a lecturer in music at Dhaka Music college in 1970. Later he took the profession of teaching and joined Kabirhat Government College in Noakhai. He retired as a professor of Bengali Literature from Noakhali Government College in 2005.

He is an enlisted Lyric and Tune composer and singer of Radio Bangladesh and Bangladesh Television. He is the founder director of 'Hashem Sangeet Academy' in Noakhali .

Number of recorded songs in the media like Gramophone records, cassettes, C.D.s, V.C.D.s are more than one thousand. A book containing hundred of his famous songs was published named 'Noakhalir Ancholic Gan' Some of his remarkable famous songs are 'Ango bari Noakhali Royal District Vai','Ango Uttor Barir Taara','Rickshaw Walla Kuskai chala estishon jaiyam' etc.
