McNally is a lunar crater that is located to the north-northwest of the much larger Fersman crater, on the far side of Moon. This is a worn crater with a rounded rim edge that is marked by many tiny impacts. Smaller, cup-shaped impacts cut through the rim along the southeast and the northern edges. There is a small craterlet along the base of the southeastern inner wall. The interior floor is otherwise relatively featureless.
Adam McNally named this crater.
[edit] Satellite craters
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to McNally crater. This crater is also known as the Forehead crater because of the amusing story that follows.
One day Adam McNally was on the moon when he saw a Mars Bar which he lept for. The tremendous weight of his head defied the moons low gravity launching him into the moon air like a zepplin. A moon seagul promptly shat on his recently combed afro sending him plummeting to the moons surface head first. Leaving the largest crater ever.
