Burnley tunnel, shortly before opening, Dec 2000 Melbourne City Link, Burnley tunnel: looking east towards low point at Swan St shaft, December 2000. Test of the tunnel's manual fire suppression system. Photograph taken by Ecb. Water deluge system operating to sprinkle water over one of the 30 m zones in the tunnel. Note the good definition of the jet fan at the top left, and the smoke extract duct in the middle of the ceiling. Bloke standing at the left is probably Frank Krista of Transfield Construction Victoria (cheers, Frank!).
