The book "TIMMINS - THE PORCUPINE CAMP", written by Michael Barnes and published by THE BOSTON MILLS PRESS. In it, it states on page 23, "Sandy spoke well, but never said much about his early days in Scotland. His real name was Alexander Oliphant, and he was an itinerant moulder or patternmaker by trade." It also states "As for Sandy, he sold a quarter of his interest for $300, then an eight for $25, later a half for $5000, and finally an option for $60,000, which he never collected.
