McIntosh is a city in and the county seat of Corson County, South Dakota, United States.[3] The population was 217 at the 2000 census.

McIntosh is located at 45°55′18″N, 101°21′1″W (45.921649, -101.350171)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (4.12%) is water.

McIntosh has been assigned the ZIP code 57641 and the FIPS place code 39940.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 217 people, 102 households, and 53 families residing in the city. The population density was 232.0 people per square mile (89.1/km²). There were 135 housing units at an average density of 144.4/sq mi (55.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 75.12% White, 20.74% Native American, 2.30% from other races, and 1.84% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.30% of the population.

There were 102 households out of which 22.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.2% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.1% were non-families. 47.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 28.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 23.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $26,875, and the median income for a family was $39,063. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $25,417 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,821. About 5.9% of families and 10.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.2% of those under the age of eighteen and 20.5% of those sixty five or over.
