McGuireWoods is a major United States law firm based in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 1834 in Charlottesville, Virginia by Egbert Watson, the firm was known as McGuire, Woods and Battle from 1966 to 1987. In 2000, the firm changed its name to McGuireWoods, LLP. Today, McGuireWoods, LLP comprises over 950 attorneys in 15 offices across the United States and in Brussels, Belgium and Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 2006, McGuireWoods was ranked 80th among worldwide law firms based on revenue. Other US offices are in Atlanta, Georgia, Baltimore, Maryland, Charlotte, North Carolina, Chicago, Illinois, Jacksonville, Florida, Los Angeles, California, New York, New York, Norfolk, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tysons Corner, Virginia, and Washington, D.C..

In the September 2006 issue of American Lawyer, McGuireWoods, LLP ranked No. 3 as the most frequently named "go to" firm for big ticket litigation, according to a survey of general counsels from Fortune 250 companies.
