[edit] Sports
McFarland currently competes in the WIAA Badger South Conference, though it will move to the Rock Valley Conference beginning in the 2008-09 school year. Swimming though will not be moved to the Rock Valley Conference because there is no swimming in the Rock Valley. The school is said to excel in non-traditional sports, such as Cross-Country and Track under the reputable coaching of Bruce Fischer. Boys Swimming under head coach Nick Weiss and Assistant Coach Neil Weiss recently won Division II State for 2007 and 2008. In addition, the girls swim team under coach Heidi Ackley regularly does very well. Also, Girls soccer has imporved tremendously over the past few years leading McFarland to a second place finish in the 2007 State games. Unfortunately, the school often falls behind in the traditional sports such as football and basketball, with the football program posting a 3-6 record for the 2006 season. But, the program bounced back with its first playoff year since coach Paul Ackley took over in 2006. The Spartans went 6-3 during the regular season including a win over the Edgewood Crusaders, who were ranked #1 in the state at the time. They then went on to win at Wisconsin Dells in the Division III playoffs before coming home to fall to the Crusaders for a 7-4 overall record. Recently the McFarland Boys Track team won the WIAA Division 2 Regionals.
