[edit] XV-1 designation

Wouldn't this sentence Finally, the aircraft became the first vehicle in the convertiplane series as the XV-1. refer to the US Air Force's pre-1962 designation system? I think the Air Force was the only service to use dashes in its designations. Thanks. -Fnlayson (talk) 21:10, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
