    McD's List of McDonald's TV campaigns and slogans → McD's Advertising

    It has been proposed that this article be renamed McDonald's advertising. Please comment here.

    • Oppose. The current title says exactly what this is, a list of McDonald's TV campaigns and slogans. Where's this more comprehensive article you mentioned? This is just a small list with an intro, if it's ever re-written or improved, then the name can be changed, not before. Crazysuit 04:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

    • Perhaps I was being premature, my apologies. I do slightly doubt the wisdom of merging a perfectly good and long-standing standalone article (i'm lovin' it) into an enormous list-of article. But if it is to be done, it needs major surgery from where it is now—how about moving this to "McDonald's advertising" and making it a general article about the subject?     There have been no comments in opposition to the article merges in the five days since I posted the proposals. So I am treating the result as Merge.

    It has been proposed that McDonald's#Advertising, i'm lovin' it and McDonald's Menu Song be merged into the List of McDonald's TV campaigns and slogans article.

    • Support - These articles together are not really informative. By combining them into a more comprehensive single article will allow for a better over view of McDonald's advertising programs, history and partnerships. See the Burger King advertising article for an example of what I am thinking.     Well, I would have objected but I didn't see the notice. In any case, how about doing it properly? This article is now a complete mess. NicM 10:16, 31 October 2007 (UTC).
    Properly? I just did the preliminaries at 3:00 in the morning- closing the other articles, creating redirects, checking for circular redirects, redirecting links that went to the old articles and updating the template.
    Cleaning up the mess that is all of the McDonald's articles has taken me over a month now. I am working on the McDonald's products article, half a dozen individual products, the template as well as this one. Add to that the dozen or so other fast food articles I keep tabs on on a daily basis. Would you like to help instead of criticizing? Just the McDonald's articles need citations; formatting; copy editing for grammar, punctuation and structure; plus expansion - any help in improving them would be welcome. - Jeremy (Jerem43 15:37, 31 October 2007 (UTC))

    That is exactly my goal (look at the previous section), McD's does not need an article for each of their ad programs. Look at the Burger King advertising article to see my ultimate plan for the article. Also, take a look at my sand box article User:Jerem43/McDonald's advertising to see what I hope to do with the article in the future, though it is still rough - no text and only an outline. - Jeremy (Jerem43 18:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC))
    Good plan. The Burger King article could do with some trimming/breaking up a bit IMO, (lists of slogans are boorrrring), maybe better organised by decade? Not sure how that would work. McDonald's seems to have less material already so one article will probably work well. NicM 18:47, 31 October 2007 (UTC).

    I vaguely remember a Happy Meal Slogan of "Hey, it could happen" during the early to mid-90s Evil Vin 5:08, 2 August 2005

    Not to dispute the company's own list... but isn't "You, you're the one" just the first line from "We Do It All For You", and not a separate campaign? Brithgob 03:25, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

    During the mid 80s, there was a contest with TV ads and the square records in newspapers that wasn't Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun, but rather had a jingle that started "Big Mac, McDLT, a Quarter Pounder with some cheese. Fillet-a-Fish, a Hamburger, a Cheeseburger, a Happy Meal. McNuggets, tasty golden French Fries, regular and larger sizes." It goes on from there, but that is all I had ever remembered. If I recall correctly, it ends with "I love McDonald's. Good time, great taste. I get this all at just one place."

    I can't believe I'm admitting to remembering this, but it actually went like this: "Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish, Quarter-Pounder, French-Fries. Icy Coke, Thick Shake, Sunday, and Apple Pie." Later on (90's or 00's, I'm not certain) they did an even longer jingle, so long that I found it pointless to even try to memorize it. I'm grateful for that; the 'twoallbeefpatties' meme has been a pox on my brain for nigh on 30 years.

    There are some other what I presume to be Australian only ones, such as 'It's Mac Time' and 'Only McDonalds'

    I remember that as well as it was on advertising on TV in England as well don't know when exactly it was used but I believe it was for a few years late 1980s - mid 1990s I think? I will add it to the list. If anyone knows the correct date could they add that to my rough estimate --Wrh1973 19:11, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

    In Australia currently we have a campaign running called "Make up your own mind" or something to th effect, any other countries have this campaign? Kripcat 08:00, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

    Doesn't sound familar, but here in Canada we have an ad that calls the Turkey BLT a "cornucopia of awesomeness". It has been getting a lot of attention in the media, partically in the Maritimes since the guy who says it, Randy Conard, is from Cape Breton Island. --FrankCostanza 03:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

    Doesn't it defeat the object of a "literal translations" table if the Spanish translations are both given as "I love it" (which is the rough translation of every single language), with literal translations in brackets after? 129.67.125.194 (talk) 16:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)


    Actually in Spain the slogan is in English ("I'm loving it") and NOT in Spanish ("Me encanta todo eso") as it's said in the article. I knwow that in South America it's in Spanish, but not here. Someone can check it out and change the article. I'm not a registered user in the EN wikipedia so I prefer someone else do the correction. jose - govindaom108@gmail.com Feb 5 2008

    "At McDonald's we've got time for you"

    I seem to remember it being "Ronald McDonald's got time for you". Perhaps that was only in the TV commercials aimed at children, which is all I would have seen at the time. 217.155.20.163 (talk) 13:16, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
