[edit] History

In 2005 ideas of a private school at a local church named the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ were originated. The idea of the school was that they would follow the ABEKA Curriculum on DVDS. The idea of the school did not become a reality until spring of 2006 when plans began and the idea was approved by the leaders of the church building being used. On August 16, 2006 McAlester Christian Academy opened its doors to 27 Preschoolers, Elementary Schoolers, and Junior/Senior high Schoolers. It began with a faculty of just 6 people. By the end of the school year its enrollment was at 33 students.

On August 16, 2007 McAlester Christian Academy opened up its doors for its second year but this time to 43 students. It currently has a faculty of 8 people and at the end of the first semester its enrollment was up to 49 students with more on the way. The school will hold its first commencement exercises in 2008.

[edit] Curriculum

McAlester Christian Academy follows the abeka curriculum completely throughout the school. McAlester Christian Academy has live teachers for grades 7 through 12 in most classes. Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are completely on the abeka DVD curriculum. The preschool program has very experienced teachers using the abeka preschool program.

The school currently fields teams in basketball, cheerleading and track. Their cheerleading squad has won the state competition currently 2 years in a row, and its basketball has had a successful first season. The track team has attended numerous track meets in its first season and were very successful in each.

The 2008 - 2009 cheerleading squad has currently 12 members on their squad and 2 of which are captains. They expect this year to be even more successful than the two years previous to the program....... Hoping to receive a national bid and once again placing first place at state
