I felt the need to have a place here to group together my participation in the things that require either a Support, Oppose, or Neutral vote, that I have participated in which relate to a particular user.

I do not participate in every RfA, although I routinely read and review most if not all that are submitted. I participate in less than 50% of current RfAs, and it is even rarer for me to oppose or declare neutrality.

[edit] My Standards

My standards are very fluid and they regularly change. I also reserve the right to ignore my standards when I deem appropriate. That being said, there are some constants which do not change or only slightly vary:

  • Actually answer the standard questions and not just post a one-line response.
  • Displays knowledge of the policies through prior contributions to the areas the user requests the tools for.
  • Mainspace contributions not limited to vandalism reverts (even the creation of multiple stubs is enough to fulfil this)
    • DYKs; Good Articles; Featured Articles, Lists, Pictures, Topics are an even better indicator of the quality of the mainspace contributions.
  • Clean block log or last block occurred over 4 months prior.
  • Not have a previous Arbitration Committee ruling against which imposed editing restrictions or blocks/bans.
  • Edit summary usage near-perfect for at a minimum the last 150 major and minor edits.

[edit] Nominations

  • TomStar81 (3rd attempt) - Pending co-nomination with Roger Davies - Postponed due to academic real-life concerns of TomStar81 until May at the earliest.
  • Parsecboy - Successful co-nomination with Pewwer42, closed 24 February 2008 by WJBscribe at (63/1/0)

Notes

  1. ^ Later discovered to be a sockpuppeteer and sock himself of a community banned user. The entire community was duped. - Signpost article

[edit] Oppose

  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/The Transhumanist 5 - 5th RfA in 10 months (3rd self-nom), complete lack of RfA etiquette, replied to most opposes, actually saw people !vote per Kurt.
    • Withdrew early; Closed with the tally: (65/84/16)
  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Jordan Payne - Extremely low edit count, fortress mentality, didn't heed consensus not to nominate.
    • Withdrawn per WP:SNOW; tally: (0/12/0)
  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Shalom - A vandal who abused sockpuppets and vandalized during his last RfA. I did not rule out the possibility of eventually supporting a reformed vandal, but only a few months were not enough time to judge if the reformation was truly genuine or not.
    • Withdrew early; Closed with the tally: (34/45/10)

[edit] Neutral

  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/BQZip01 - Canvassing, lack of experience in admin-related areas, weak original answers to the questions.
    • Withdrawn early by bureaucrat; Closed with the tally: (5/19/6)
    • Originally opposed, but switched to neutral to avoid the inevitable pile-on after reconsideration of my opposition.
  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Dihydrogen_Monoxide_2 - Too many issues, not enough time to overcome them.
    • Unsuccessful; Closed with the tally: (76/46/18}
  • Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/thedemonhog - Limited contributions to anything outside of TV-related articles. Suggested waiting a few months and gaining additional outside experience before another RfA.
    • No Consensus; Closed with the tally: (31/14/12)

[edit] Requests for Bureaucratship

I usually participate in every RfB that I see when looking at WP:RFA on a regular basis.

[edit] My Standards

Generally, I do not have set standards like RfA, for RfB, but there are certain things that will lead me to either not participate, oppose, or abstain via a neutral !vote.

[edit] Arbitration Committee Elections

I only vote for the candidates I support.

[edit] Standards

  • Must be an Administrator and have at least one extra position of special community trust (Bureaucrat, Checkuser, Oversight, OTRS, Mediation Committee, Arbitration Committee Clerk).
  • Also, what I consider to be the most important, who would I want to judge me if I was named as a party to an ArbCom case.

[edit] WP:MILHIST Coordinator Elections

Elections to select the project's Coordinators are held every six months in February and August. The method of election is approval voting, therefore any votes cast are those in support of a candidacy.

  • Wikipedia:Non administrator rollback - Support

I use Twinkle like many of us, but if a less-server intensive solution (which this is) is made available (which this would do), I would switch my vandalism reverts to the rollback tool. Besides, those with a proven vandal-fighting record shouldn't have a problem getting an admin to approve them for the tool.

  • Wikipedia:Requests for rollback/Vote - I support non-admin rollback being implemented, through a community decided process
