[edit] Your VandalProof Application
Dear Mbimmler, Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.1 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is Only 28 mainspace edits in english wiki since late 2004. Although 390 in other wikis, only limited vandalism reverting there even. Will still need to see greater experience in eng wiki. Hope you understand . Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen TC (Stollery) 14:17, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, no problem with me. Ad powerful program: Well, I know that it is powerful, that's its intention. I thought however that, being involved in Wikimedia projects for 2 years now, being active in the creation of a new chapter (Wikimedia CH) and in answering queries at OTRS, I knew enough about Wikipedia to handle such a tool correctly (including determining "what is vandalism and what not"). But okay, I'll make some more RC-patrolling here and will apply somewhen in future again. --Mbimmler 14:26, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- I understand your position completely - and yes if you could do some vandalism reduction work here on en.wiki then certainly I'd have no problem adding you... VP now even has a function that reverts ALL edits made by a user with one button so I'm sure you understand we have to be quite careful. Thanks for your understanding :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 14:37, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- I saw the function. Looks nice, to users and to vandals :) Anyway, I'll continue here with some RC patrolling and then I'll show up again. --Mbimmler 14:40, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Fantastic. Please also understand it's somewhat difficult to see all the great work you've been doing as its in another language (though I did look through a lot of your contribs and translate them to eng it's not an easy task for us monolinguists! Thanks for your understanding :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 14:42, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Mbimmler. I just saw on your userpage that you are primarily active on the de.wikipedia. If your account on de has sufficient experience in this areas, I would be glad to approve you. Wikipedia is Wikipedia, be it German, English, or Anglo-Saxxon! Anyway, get back to me with your account name on de, and I will reconsider. AmiDaniel (Talk) 15:02, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, my user name on de: is just Mbimmler as well, user page is at de:user:Mbimmler, however you won't find too much infos at my user page (it being a) in german and b) semi-informative, I never had time to really design my userpage...). If you need more informations, feel free to contact me here, per email or in IRC (freenode, user "Mbimmler") --Mbimmler 08:10, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to VandalProof!
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Mbimmler! You have now been added to the list of authorized users, so if you haven't already, simply download and install VandalProof from our main page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page. AmiDaniel (Talk) 21:14, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Prima.
Herzlichen Dank! --Mbimmler 12:40, 30 April 2006 (UTC) (signature changed, this was me, not logged in...)
[edit] Congrats!
Well the boss shot ya through a wee bit quicker than we planned! All good congrats and give me a bell if ya need a hand learning the ropes at all. Welcome to the team! :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 21:41, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just got your message, glad all sorted :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 15:19, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well, instead of looking for the error in my monobook.js, I just threw out half of it, now it works... I really wondered what a lot of features there were (all copypasted somewhen)... --Mbimmler 15:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Revisions wiped
Just to let you know - We received a complaint from the person previously named on this page about those revisions, so I have wiped them. It will now appear as if I made all the comments myself, although this is not, in fact, true. Raul654 00:37, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hi
would you be my friend here on wikipedia??????????????
thankyou Sushant gupta 14:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'll love to help you with any questions you have, however, being mainly active on german Wikipedia, I'm not so learnt in english Wikipedia policy matters. However I should be able to quite quickly find out how it works here... --Mbimmler 16:02, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- ForteTuba 02:33, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Change to Common.css
Per recent discussions, the way in which Persondata is viewed by Wikipedia editors has changed. In order to continue viewing Persondata in Wikipedia articles, please edit your user CSS file to display table.persondata rather than table.metadata. More specific instructions can be found on the Persondata page. --ShakingSpirittalk on behalf of Kaldari 01:29, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The field station la gamba
Have restored the article so you can add appropriate permission tags. It could do with some cleanup and probably a page move to remove the "The" and capitalise the words correctly, btw. Qwghlm 15:52, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] HoL reform
Since you implied that you have ended the answering on the ref desk, I will answer here. In my opinion, if the HoL composition had to be altered by law in 1999 and 1959, then it seems unlikely that they could alter their own membership without law - ie. by elections or appointments. And you already understand that they cannot veto the law (under 1911 and 1949 Acts), which apparently includes laws on its composition. I don't expect you to reply.martianlostinspace 19:04, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ryan St. Anne Scott
I used the Chicago Tribune article, which I have seen, in writing the article about Ryan St. Anne Scott. I also have seen copies of newspaper articles from Minnesota and the LaCrosse, Wisconsin area that have similar information. To the best of my knowledge, the article is accurate. I tried to cite everything in it that might be controversial. --Bookworm857158367 21:25, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DRV closure
Your DRV closure was inappropriate. "Experienced and senior editors" don't have any special status on Wikipedia; all good-faith editors have a right to comment on a DRV. The current situation is clearly no consensus, and there is still active interest in the discussion. Don't do this. *** Crotalus *** 20:26, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Qian Zhijun
Mbimmler, I notice that you closed the discussion at WP:DRV regarding the article on Qian Zhijun. There has actually been a fair amount of discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Wikipedia:Deletion_review.2FLog.2F2007_May_18_and_Qian_Zhijun on this subject, and it has been closed and reopened several times. Given that there are active discussions going on on that page, would you consider reopening the discussion, for the sake of process? --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:27, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- Someone else already has. *** Crotalus *** 20:28, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- This situation is now at RfC. --badlydrawnjeff talk 22:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ArbCom
The Qiun Zhijun situation is at ArbCom, and you have been listed at a party. Please leave comments there. --badlydrawnjeff talk 13:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Thank you for participating in My RfA which closed successfully. I am honored and truly more than a little humbled by the support of so many members of the community. It's more than a bit of a lift to see comments on my behalf by so many people that I respect. I'll do my best to not disappoint you or the community. - Philippe | Talk 06:41, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Menzies Campbell
At the time that I changed the reference, it was only reporting that he "is to" resign. When that was updated, you were correct to revert to the BBC. Viewfinder 18:03, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] South Chadderton School
I have replied on the article's talk page, as other users have also contributed to the discussion. ~ Scribble Monkey (talk) 09:38, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:OTRS and Louisiana College
I undid the edit on Louisiana College because I believe that information on the external site http://www.saveourlc.com is helpful to understanding the controversy referenced in the second paragraph of the article summary. I left a more detailed comment on Talk:Louisiana College. Dustinroyer (talk) 05:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Groton School OTRS
I gave User:Epeabody, who recently inserted the abuse-allegation material there and created a (now speedy-deleted) walled-garden of sorts to support it, a 1-week block. He has emailed me, claiming he was just trying to add cites (i.e., his newbie mistake was cut'n'pasting the supporting articles rather than ext-linking them). Another user has asked me whether this block is excessive. I don't have OTRS access. Could you comment on this situation (blockability of user, whether abuse-allegation can be included at all with WP:RS (and how many cites needed), etc.? Both User talk:DMacks#The block of User:Epeabody and Talk:Groton School already have some discussion about it. DMacks (talk) 18:10, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
