Mâzandarân (prior to 1596 known as Taberia / Tapuria) is a region in northern Iran and south-western of Turkmenistan, bordering the Caspian Sea (known in antiquity as the Mazandaran Sea) in the north. Region contains Present-day Tehran, Semnan, Golestan, Mazandaran and somewheres of Arak and Gilan provinces of Iran. [1]
