[edit] History

Mazenod College was founded in 1966 on its current site in Lesmurdie. Construction of the original school buildings was still underway during the first few months, and classes were held in a tin shed [1] until construction was completed in May 1966.

In 1999 the new Performing Arts centre was opened, which provided the college with dedicated music tuition rooms, a purpose-built Drama facility, and the college boardroom (now converted into Staff offices). Further extensions were completed in 2003 with the redevelopment of the Junior block, and construction of a new Science and Senior block. This addition provided 4 new Science laboratories, as well as 4 general purpose classrooms and an additional computer laboratory.

2006 brought about the construction and opening of the new Administration facility, which also provided the college with purpose-built staff offices, as well as a new staff carpark and landscaping work along Gladys Road.

As of 2007, the college is accepting enrolments for its new Year 7 education program, scheduled to begin in 2010. It is anticipated that the move will result in the construction of a new preparatory facility adjacent to the Administration block and Gladys Road. The total quantity of places available for Year 7 will be less than 140, and the college is scheduled to begin interviewing for these positions in 2008.
