Talk:Maylene and the Sons of Disaster
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This band is not Christian-based. Underoath WAS, but this band and it's album are a conceptual telling of Ma Barker and the Barker-Karpis gang.
I wouldn't exactly call'em "heavy metal". They're more like southern hardcore. Bandgeek100 00:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
The band's name and certain songs are about that story, but, far and large, a lot of thier lyrical subjects are Christian. "If the blinders were just gone would you then feel Jesus.", etc. Also, Dallas typically ends the live shows with something along the lines of they don't mean to judge anyone and aren't pushing anything down anyones throats, and then they will talk of their beliefs for a second, even if it's just a simple "Christ loves you". [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Artist-152635-1352659.gif
Image:Artist-152635-1352659.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Christian?
I know Taylor is from Underoath, etc. etc., but I've never heard a definitive conclusion that this band is a Christian one. Can we reference this claim?JeffreyGomez 09:31, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Citations?
Sigh....more of them please! Particularly on the Guitar Hero III reference. --Wick3dd 21:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Genre
I haven't listend to their first album, but I have the second one, and the lyrics have a death metal feel. In fact, they're pretty much all about the death of Ma Barker and her sons. Christianrocker —Preceding comment was added at 18:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Sigh. Singing about death does not constitute death metal. --Wick3dd 21:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't think this should be hardcore, this sounds very much like a cross of Southern Rock and Metalcore. Definitely not death metal. It's not even close to death metal. 79.66.82.204 (talk)
[edit] Lineup
Is the current lineup listed on here accurate? Josh Cornutt is no longer listed as a member of the band on their Myspace nor is he in the new photography. -Polefar 18 April 2008
