Why does John Kagi get all the credit for the Underground RR stop? He couldn't have done it without his sister and brother-in-law's support, probably both for the work in building the cave, feeding (maybe getting clothes for them) the slaves, directing them on their way, and undergoing risk of attacks/intervention from slavecatchers. Men did not do all this stuff by themselves.--Parkwells 15:54, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- When I write articles I only include information I have sources for. In my reading on the topic support from the Mayhews never came up - and although your assumption is probably fair, I am afraid it is only an unsubstantiated claim. • Freechild'sup? 00:45, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Nebraska was not a free state. It was a territory where slavery was legal until the Civil War. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.128.243.122 (talk) 04:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Nebraska was a "free state" per the Kansas-Nebraska Act. Before statehood there were a small number of slaves in the state; see History of slavery in Nebraska. • Freechild'sup? 04:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
