Talk:Mayday (distress signal)/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I came to this page, because we had some discussions when to use Maday and when to use Pan-pan. I was hoping to find the definitions for both as they are stated by the maratime law not some interpretation of someone. So far I was unable to locae the law. I think it's either defined in SOLAS or in the Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union, however, neither internet page provides the definitions I was seeking. My internet research showed that different countries are intepreting the Maday differen: Immediate grave danger to Vessel/aircraft or Immediate danger to person or vessel or aircraft. Based on these interpretations a Man-over-board can be a Pan-Pan or a Maday. Can someone who has access to the Law/regulations that are the basis for this radio communication please update this page with the exact wording? Thanks
