Mayte Gómez Macanás, better known as Mayte Macanás, which is her artistic name, is a Spanish singer. She was born 7 March 1984 in Murcia, Spain.
During her childhood she only played the piano. Around the 16 years old, she begins to sing. She studied piano about two years in an academy, has sung in orchestras and in a duet, with which she recorded some demo tape, and won several galas in her native city, Murcia. About 20 years old she decided to study Tourism without relegate her artistic vocation.
When she was 22, and after several attempts in previous years to participate in Operación Triunfo, she appears again in the summer of year 2006 to the castings of the program and finally she turns out to be selected, between more than 23,000 aspirants.
Since she left the program she has been dedicated to appear in some musical festivities and to work with a musical group.

During her stay in Operación Triunfo she sang a total of eight songs in live, recorded in study for discs of the galas of the concourse. Also she composed with Mercedes Durán and Moritz Antón, two companions, a song titled "Dos Mares" ("Two Seas"), which it's included in the disc “Operación Triunfo 2006: Adelante”, in addition to a duet with another companion, Jorge González, the song "Volver a sentir" (“To return to feel”) and other participations in this disc. She surpassed two nominations of the jury to leave the academy. The third time they nominated her she didn't obtain the support sufficient from the public to be able to continue in the program. On November 26, 2006, Mayte is expelled from the concourse, between diverse controversies due to the supposed injustice of her nominations.
