Mayra Calvani (born 1967) is a writer of dark fantasy stories.

[edit] Early years

Calvani was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico the Capital of Puerto Rico, where she received her primary and secondary education. She started writing stories when she was eleven years old. Calvani attended a Catholic convent school, where she tended to be shy. The stories she wrote, however, were passed around between classes and made her popular. Her stories always ended in murder or in the supernatural.

The authors who have served as Calvani's literary inspiration are Anne Rice, Ernest Hemingway and Agatha Christie. She went to college where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing.

Her first novel, "Dark Hunger", published by Amber Quill Press and released in 2001, is a dark romantic fantasy. Calvani combines romance and horror in her fiction. Her second novel, "The Last Dinosaurs", is a funny satire that reaches into the realms of paranormal and horror as well as mystery and women's issues. Her short stories have been published in Twilight Times Ezine.

Calvani is a member of AEPRA (Association of E Published Romance Authors). She has lived in Puerto Rico, the United States, Turkey and now resides in Brussels, Belgium with her husband and 2 children.
