Mayo East (Dáil Éireann constituency)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mayo East was a 3-seat Irish Dail constituency. The constituency was created under the terms of the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1969 [1], taking in parts of the former Mayo North and Mayo South constituncies.

When first contested it returned 2 Fine Gael TDs and 1 Fianna Fáil TD. [2] But at every subsequent election it returned 2 Fianna Fáil and 1 Fine Gael.

It was abolished in 1997 when it was combined with Mayo West to become the Mayo constituency.
