Maymand is a very ancient village in the province of Kerman, Iran. Its population is about 150 people. In 2005 the village won the UNESCO-Greece Melina Mercouri International Prize (about 20,000$). The local language contains many words from the ancient Sassanid and Pahlavi languages.
