Maylord Shopping Centre is a shopping centre in Hereford, England, jointly operated by Prudential and Herefordshire Council. Anchor stores include TK Maxx and Next, amongst its total of 50 shops.
Development began in the mid-1980's with a partnership between Hereford City Council and Norwich Union Insurance to construct a £15m-20m shopping centre on the former site of a car park in the citys Blueschool Street.[1]
The 174,240ft² centre opened in 1987 as Maylord Orchards (the name being changed in a rebranding exercise several years later).
As well as shops and eateries, the centre is a venue for local shows such as the "Baby of the Year Award" and Christmas markets. Outdoor events will often take place in the summer in the central plaza, Trinity Square.
The 'Intermissons' restaurant is owned by Debenhams however no Debenhams store exists in the shopping centre or even in the city.
Transport links are served by a series of bus stops at the rear and an underground car park beneath the building.
In 2007 it was announced that a major refurbishment project was being discussed between Prudential and Herefordshire Council which would include more retail space, new shop-fronts and a possible extension of the roof to cover the entire centre.[1]
