"Maybe It Was Memphis" is a single, released in 1991, by American country music artist Pam Tillis. Released as the fourth single from her album Put Yourself in My Place, the single was her third Top-10 hit on the U.S. country music charts.
Two changes were made for the song's radio edit. On the album version, the second chorus is followed by an electric guitar solo; this was changed to a shorter pedal steel guitar solo. Also, the ending on the radio edit was changed to a repetition of the chorus, instead of a tag line.
While on Warner Brothers Records, Tillis recorded the song in the mid-80s. This version can be found on Pam Tillis Collection.
