The Mayan stage is the final Russian and Kazakhian Faunal stage of the Middle Cambrian Epoch. It occurred between 501 and 502 million years ago. The end of the [Mayan stage is marked by the earliest appearance of the agnostoid trilobite Glyptagnostus reticulatus. The Mayan stage is preceded by the Russian-Kazakhian Stage known as the Amgan. It is followed by the Russian faunal stage the Ayusokkanian and the Australian faunal stage known as the Mindyallan.
