Maya Sharma was a fictional character on the soap opera Coronation Street. She was played by Sasha Behar.

Corrie's psycho Mad Maya started out as a lawyer. Originally, she advised Roy and Hayley Cropper about the matters of Amy Barlow. She fell for Dev Alahan, who seemed to take an immediate liking to her.

Very quickly it seemed there was something wrong with this character, starting off with stealing vases and then kidnapping Monica, Tyrone Dobbs's pet dog. Then she left a restaurant without paying and drove Dev around a country road extremely fast threatening not to stop the car unless he proposed. At her engagement party to Dev, Tyrone tried to ruin the event by telling everyone that she killed his dog and he compared her to Cruella Devil, but she resisted this. Dev rekindled his love for ex Sunita Parekh when he discovered she had a brain tumour. Even Maya had pity, and then decided to capitalise this by playing the caring friend and telling Sunita she might be putting pressure on Dev. When Dev announced his love for Sunita, Maya thrashed his shop and his flat. Sunita recovered and Dev dumped Maya and started dating Sunita.
At Dev and Sunita's engagement party, Maya wrecked Sunita's dress by spilling wine on it. Then, she married several illegal immigrants with Sunita's birth certificate. When it came to Dev and Sunita's wedding, they were both arrested for illegal marriage. When Dev managed to get a taxi driver who transported her to one of the illegal weddings to convince the police that it was evil Maya behind these plans she was thrown in jail, but later released on bail. She spent her bail time running around Manchester and burning down Dev's shops.
She then entered Dev's flat and took Sunita hostage and phoned Dev. Soon Dev arrived but Maya was gone and had left a message in lipstick on the table. He was ordered to the corner shop on Coronation Street. The corner shop on Coronation Street was Dev's last property that had not been destroyed. When he arrived and saw a bound and gagged Sunita he proceeded to tell her that everything would be ok but then Maya knocked him out and tied him up. When he woke up they talked about how he dumped her and how upset she was. Later a police man showed up at the door. Dev screamed to attract attention but then Maya gagged him to stop his cries for help. She told the police that she was Sunita and while she did this Dev got a knife and cut his legs free.
When Maya returned she turned the gas on the stove on and as she left the kitchen told Dev that if he believed in reincarnation that maybe next time he would come back as something better and started a fire in the shop below. She left them tied up inside a locked room. Soon Jamie Baldwin and Leanne Battersby noticed a fire in the shop and Rita Sullivan called the fire brigade. Dev broke the window with the curtain rail and then this attracted the attention of the streets residence. Two of the residents (Ciaran McCarthy and Charlie Stubbs) came to the rescue. Dev was rescued by Ciaran and carried down on his shoulder just before the corner shop exploded dramatically.Maya felt quite shocked when Dev was rescued. The residence were in shock to see Dev bound and gagged and had no idea what was going on. Sunita was saved by Charlie and appeared shortly after. Maya was completely astonished at this point. She was watching from her car at the other end of the street and then tried to run them down in the street in a fit of rage, but missed. She crashed into the viaduct and when she crashed the residence thought the worst was over. However, then she arose covered in blood and started up her car. Unfortunately, a truck crashed into the back of her car as she reversed it back out.
Maya survived and was sent to the same hospital as Sunita. When Sunita learned this she left the hospital immediately. After coming out of intensive care, Maya was sent to jail to await her trial. Little is now known about Maya. She was last mentioned when Leanne Battersby offered Dev a share of her restaurant business in 2007 as Maya had tried to tempt Leanne into taking out a lawsuit against Dev for unfair dismissal from the Corner Shop at the beginning of her twisted campaign of revenge.
