The Maya Mountains are a mountain range in Belize and eastern Guatemala. The tallest mountain is Victoria Peak at 3,675 feet (1,120 m). The peak is located about 256 km (160 mi) south of Belmopan, Belize's capital. The Maya Mountains and associated foothills contain a number of important Mayan ruins including the sites of Lubaantun,[1] Nim Li Punit, Cahal Pech[2] and Chaa Creek; the most eminent nature reserve within the range is the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.
