TV.com summary |
Maya was an hour-long U.S. adventure television series that ran on NBC from September 16, 1967 until February 10, 1968. Set in the Indian jungle, it was about an American boy searching for his missing father, a big game hunter. It starred child Jay North as Terry Bowen, and Sajid Khan as Raji, a native boy who joined up with the lead. Raji's pet elephant, Maya, gave the series its name.
It was preceded by a 1966 film of the same name Maya also starring Jay North and Sajid Khan. It only lasted one season and ended after 18 episodes. The series featured guest appearances by several notable Indian actors such as Iftekhar, Prem Nath and I.S Johar.
Filmed entirely on location, it was produced by Frank King.
