I have completely lost control of my account, my password no longer works after I attempted to access it from an (apparently blocked) public network (my new school, I moved). I've tried several times to have a new password generated, but it never shows up in my email, perhaps it's being sent to the wrong email?

I'd really like to be able to access my account again, so any help is appreciated. --70.66.98.187 22:56, 28 March 2007 (UTC), (MaXiMiUS)

As for your account, I'm really not sure, so I'm going to leave the helpme tag up for now. I believe it is possible to create a new account and have the edits made here credited to that new account, but I am not sure of that process. For now, it may be best to go ahead and create that account just so you will be able to access and edit the site from school - most public IP's that get blocked are placed on what is called a soft block, that allows registered users to log in and edit while the anonymous vandals are kept out. There is no way to verify that it is in fact you who created the count in the first place. If you don't remember your password, and you don't have the same e-mail address or did not set your e-mail address in the preferences, there is nothing that can be done. —Centrxtalk • 23:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure how, but I somehow recovered access to my account through Firefox's saved passwords.. I must of set my wikipedia password to something really odd. *goes off to change it*..

Oh, and for the future, 70.66.98.187 *is* me. Unless I move somewhere else. --MaXiMiUS 18:42, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Still having problems: my email IS set in my preferences, so I have no idea why my password isn't being sent there. I even checked spam folders. I still can't figure out what the heck I set my password to, and I can't change it to something I am actually able to remember. So basically, I'm logged in, and if I log out.. I won't ever be able to log in again. Just a note; my email *is* verified, and has been for over 6 months. Since I don't exactly want to log out again, is it possible to just have a new password generated and sent to my email? Perhaps somebody else could use the "generate password" function for me while I'm logged in? If you do, leave me a message here about it. Not sure if it's possible to do that or not while the account is logged in.. --MaXiMiUS 18:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I have clicked the "E-mail new password" button for your username while logged out. Hopefully it will work. —Centrxtalk • 20:01, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Or try going into Firefox's Saved Passwords window, I seem to recall that you can check a box to make the passwords visible in clear text. Try that, if you still need help, readd the helpme template. --NigelJ talk 20:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you Centrx, it worked, and I finally got an email with a new password. --MaXiMiUS 21:41, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
