Maxwell is a village in Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the North Platte, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 315 at the 2000 census.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 315 people, 116 households, and 87 families residing in the village. The population density was 933.5 people per square mile (357.7/km²). There were 131 housing units at an average density of 388.2/sq mi (148.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.78% White, 0.63% African American, and 1.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.86% of the population.
There were 116 households out of which 43.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.3% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.0% were non-families. 21.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.22.
In the village the population was spread out with 32.7% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 107.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $35,625, and the median income for a family was $45,469. Males had a median income of $39,500 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,911. About 12.9% of families and 13.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.4% of those under age 18 and 4.7% of those age 65 or over.
