Maximiliano Pereira (born 8 May 1984) is a Uruguay footballer midfielder. He currently plays for S.L. Benfica in the Portuguese Liga. He played for Uruguay in Copa América 2007 and is a regular on the international side.
Maxi, as he is called in his native country, is a midfielder/defender who started playing professional football for Defensor Sporting early in the 2002/2003 season as a 18-year old. He took no time to adjust to the first team, being a crucial part alongside Álvaro González, but after the 2006/2007 season Defensor lost both gems. González was transferred to Boca Juniors and Pereira went to Benfica.
