Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (born 1990) of France, is one of the youngest chess grandmasters in history. He completed his final grandmaster (GM) norm at age 14 years, 4 months, in 2005. His rating on January 2007 was 2573, making him the 9th best player in the country and the 17th boy under 20. In 2007 he won the French Chess Championship with a score of 7.5/11 in the round robin and defeated Vladislav Tkachiev in a tie-break match.
